Taichi Akutsu

Taichi Akutsu is a violinist and a teacher living in New York City. He was born in Tokyo, Japan, and learned the violin in his childhood with Suzuki Method. Although he once quit playing the violin in his middle school years, his orchestral experience at Tokyo Hibiya High School made him want to become a professional violinist, and he earned his bachelor's degree in violin performance at Tokyo College of Music. In 2000, he participated Mozarteum Summer Music Festival in Salzburg, Austria and studied violin with Lewis Kaplan. He decided to go to New York to continue his studies in music, and he acquired a Performance Diploma from the Mannes College of Music, and M.M. in Orchestral Performance Program from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with the New York Philharmonic Concertmaster Glenn Dicterow.

Taichi joined the New World Symphony in 2006, under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas, and performed more than 300 times with prominent artists such as Yo- Yo Ma, John Adams, Itzahk Perlman and Michael Tilson Thomas at premier concert halls including the Arsht Center for Performing Arts in Miami and New York's Carnegie Hall. In 2009, Taichi participated the Tribute Tour for the System of Venezuelan Youth Orchestra and visited Spain. In 2010, Taichi created Tango concert as well as "An Evening of Japanese Music" series in Miami. Taichi also produced various education concerts for children and families in Tokyo, Miami and New York.  

As a passionate teacher with special talent for working with young children, he has served as faculty at Manhattan School of Music Summer Camp since 2005.  He was also a violin teacher at Robert Louis Stevenson School (PS183). From the year of 2006 and 2009, he has taught more than 50 piano, violin and early childhood students at SoBe Music Institute in Miami Beach. In addition, he has created and offered more than 40 special music classes at more than 20 public schools in New York, New Jersey and Florida. Currently, he majors music education (Early Childhood/ K-12) and applied music at Lehman College, The City University of New York, and enjoy his daily teaching in New York metropolitan area. In addition, he has studied Dalcroze pedagogy with Anne Farber and Cynthia Lilley during the summer of 2009.   

Taichi is a recipient of Raphael Bronstein Award in 2005- an award for an outstanding violinist demonstrates great promise as a performer, and in whom can also be seen dedication to carrying on the pedagogical devotion.  His article "On Finding Your Path" was published from the Strings Magazine.

 

安久津太一

１９７８年東京生まれ。５歳でスズキメソードにてヴァイオリンを習い始め、公立中学校の合唱や鑑賞等の音楽授業の体験から音楽の虜となる。都立日比谷高校ではオーケストラ部のコンサートマスターをつとめ、プロのオーケストラ奏者となることを夢見て練習に励む。２０００年に東京音楽大学を卒業後、米国留学。ニューヨークのマネス音楽院を経て、マンハッタン音楽学校（オーケストラパフォーマンスプログラム）で大学院を修了。在学中、ニューヨークフィルハーニックの名コンサートマスターとして名高いグレンディクテロウ氏に師事。

２００６年にアメリカを代表する指揮者マイケルティルソントーマス氏率いるニューワールドシンフォニーのフェローに抜擢され、３年間に渡り年間１００回以上の公演を経験。カーネギーホールでのヨーヨーマとの共演等、世界的な音楽家と演奏する機会をもつ。これまでにニューワールドシンフォニーコンサートマスター、クルトマズア指揮法セミナーオーケストラ首席奏者、マンハッタン音楽院オーケストラのコンサートマスター等を歴任。現在は、ニューヨーク、マイアミ、スペイン、シンガポール、東京等で国際的に演奏活動を展開している。２００９年にはベネズエラの青少年のためのオーケストラを支援するための海外演奏ツアーにただ一人のアジア人として参加し、国際交流に貢献した。また多数の教育コンサートをニューヨークや東京近郊で主催し、各地で好評を博している。

音楽指導の分野では、生徒の主体性、創造性、協調性、表現力を育む、人間教育の一環としてのティーチングを実践しており、常に子供たちの元気で明るい笑顔を大切に、親切丁寧な指導を心がけている。現在ニューヨークのマンハッタン音楽院や、ハーレムの幼稚園等で、公立学校の生徒を対象とした音楽やヴァイオリンのクラスを担当している。またニューヨーク市内の多くの幼稚園でリトミックや先進的な音楽教育をとりいれた音楽の出前授業を多数手がけている。これまでにマイアミとニューヨークで１００人以上の子供たちを指導し、屋外でのヴァイオリン青空教室や生徒によるストリートパフォーマンスの企画実践等、そのユニークな指導には定評がある。

音楽教育の研究にも深い関心をもっており、２００９年からはニューヨーク市立大学の大学院に籍をおきリサーチを展開している。現在の研究課題は、音楽教育における創造性教育のあり方、特に教室の明るい雰囲気を大切にした、心のこもった音楽指導と生徒の成長発達の相関関係に着目している。また、北米の音楽教育の検討も行っており、アメリカ公立学校の音楽授業やリハーサルの視察、アンケートをとおして、音楽教育の意義を再確認する作業を進めている。最近は日本の教育の先進性や様々な特徴にも関心をもっており、国際比較教育学の見地からも分析を進めている。中間報告として、２０１０年５月にはニューヨーク市立大で開催された学会で、教育において長期的展望を持つことの意義や生徒の自主自律を重んじる創造性教育に関する口頭発表を行った。

２００５年、ラファエルブロンスタイン賞受賞。２００８年には、音楽学校の教育体系に関する記事（英文）がストリング誌に掲載された。
